This frequently updated Now page is a simple practice of writing down what I am currently doing and focusing on, or at least a selection of it. It’s not a CV, not a blog archive, and not a plan for the future; just a snapshot of the present.
It’s also a small gesture of transparency for those who follow my work, colleagues, readers, collaborators, offering context for what I am working on at the moment, in lieu of an active presence on the usual social media platforms (other than Mastodon).

Current assignments in my function as managing consultant with BMC:
- Strategic advisor on large energy-infrastructure projects (interim-management) for the municipality of Beverwijk.
- Coordinating policy officer with the legislative programme (wetgevingsprogramma) (interim management) at the Ministry of Climate and Green Growth (KGG). More about this in my post on Accelerating Energy Infrastructure Delivery
- Advisor for the development of an organizational strategy for the heat-transition for the municipality of Zaanstad.
Recently I (re)joined Stakeholder Forum for a Sustainable Future as one of their Fellows. In this role, my focus for now will be to advise on and help connect the nitty-gritty of processes and policy formulation with the development of ambitious strategies, and vice versa in the international arena.
I also serve at the Advisory Board of VALORADA - Validated Local Risk Actionable Data for Adaptation.
Writing in progress:
A reflection on the relation between effective altruism and the energy transition.
A reflection on whether the energy transition is actually a transition.
A longer opinion article on how we try to put the puzzle together in the wrong order and with missing pieces when it comes to spatial planning of large-scale infrastructures.
A long, very long rant against a recently released feasibility study for an SMR in the small rural municipality of Opmeer.
And, preparing for some commentary on energy transition policies in the Netherlands after the upcoming parliamentary elections (see also my summary of election manifesto's)
